They choose a particular abstract programming language in which to study the computability theory, which is built from variables, and programs that can be built from lists of instructions. Even after multiple rereadings, this series still gives me all the great warm and fuzzies that I felt the first time I read it. References in 1822 to the family having lived in the family mansion for several generations is impossible. There were excellent mini themes running through this book. But I found it enormously lacking in not only the causes of RSI, but of what the specific injuries are and how you can recognize them. It kept me interested, I cried, I was moved by the characters.
